WebShinsui Itō was a Japanese Nihonga painter and also a ukiyo-e woodblock print artist. He was associated with the art movements of Taishō (1912-1926) and Shōwa (1926-1989) periods. Alongside Uemura Shoen, Shinsui Itō was considered a master of Bijinga, images of beautiful women. WebPassing Rain. May 1917. Ito Shinsui. Japanese, 1898-1972. WebIn 1952, Ito Shinsui was designated by the Commission for Cultural Properties as a Living National Treasure and his woodblock designing deemed an Intangible Cultural Property.
